Event Information:

Understanding the differences between diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging is an important start to building a bias-aware, inclusive workplace. However, identifying our unconscious biases, recognizing how biases affect collaboration and talent management decisions, and understanding how to manage biases will equip team members with the tools to take action. This workshop explores unconscious bias, microaggressions, macroaggressions, and how we can reduce them individually and within our teams.

Objectives

  • Define unconscious bias - where it comes from and why we have it
  • Learn to recognize and mitigate unconscious bias through thought reframing
  • Describe and review common micro- and macroaggressions and the recommended ways of managing them
  • Compare common workplace biases that can affect decision making
  • Explore how unconscious bias impacts the workplace and the bottom line
